Canadian cup 2011

Yeah life is still as great as always in the Ottawa valley! Last weekend was a busy one, we had the Canadian cup in Garburator wave. It was a bit foamie but lots of people show up to give their best, there was a lot of level with competitors all around the world. Everybody did great with many spectacular rides, big tricks... lot of fun!

La vida esta genial como siempre en el valle del Ottawa! El fin de semana pasado estuvo muy ajetreado, tuvimos la copa de Canada en la ola de Garburator. Estaba muy pegajosa pero mucha se acerco a competir, mucho nivel con competidores de alrededor del mundo. Todo el mundo lo hizo genial, con rondas espectaculares, grandes trucos.... estuvo increíble!

I had a few good rides on my preliminaries luckily getting in the finals on 4th place, then competed against freestyle master capos Nick Troutman, Stephen Wright, Devyn Scott and Joel Kowalski, yes kind of a freestyle worlds finalists except of me.

Tuve un par de buenas mangas en mis preliminares, no se ni como metiendome en finales en 4ta posición, contra los capos del freestyle Nick Troutman, Stephen Wright, Devyn Scott y Joel Kowalski, una final llena de finalistas al campeonato del mundo excepto yo claro..

Buena onda Lalo!! nos vemos en Mexico!

In the end Nick Troutman won the senior k1 killing everybody else by far, sick job men! He was followed by Stephen, then Devyn, Joel and me. Dane Jackson won the k1 junior and Emily the k1 womans. Congratulation everybody, was a great event!

Summer day in the Ottawa valley

Después de un buen viaje al Quebec, volví al Ottawa valley con Ali. Nuestro plan: buscar un buen sitio donde acampar al lado del río, vivir en la isla era cojonudo, pero era mucha movida transportar la comida, traer agua... pero sobretodo buscábamos un sitio donde no tuviéramos que pagar por dormir en el suelo y estar viviendo muy cerca del río y así no necesitar auto (cosa difícil en Canada).

After a sick trip to Quebec, I came back to the Ottawa valley with Ali. Our plan: try to find a good spot to camp next to the river, the life in the island was amazing but it was just too hard to transport the food, water... but most of all we where looking for a really cheap way to live, not having to pay for sleep in the floor and living close to the river so we don't need car (something difficult in Canada).

Después de estar viviendo en el bosque por más de casi 3 meses, aguantando los mosquitos, la lluvia, la poca comida, el rollo de caminar kilómetros y kilómetros para ir al pueblo y etc y etc...

De alguna manera el jefe se entero de que estábamos viviendo en su bosque. Se acerco una mañana y nos echó de nuestro campamento.

After more than 3 months living in the woods, battling hard against mosquitos, rain, racoons, low food, having to walk kms. and kms to go get everything and etc and etc... Somehow the boss of the land noticed that we where living there, came one morning and kicked us out of his place, totally fair but pain in the ass to have to move after having all set...

Me encanta la sensación que experimentas cuando avanzas hacia otra aventura, pero esta vez estaba muy cabreado, sin dinero ni un sitio donde vivir estaba hasta los mismísimos de Canada. Sin embargo una vez tocas fondo solo puedes ir hacia arriba! Remando por el río conocimos a un señor que después de enterarse de nuestra mala suerte se ofreció a dejarnos acampar en su jardín, justo al lado de los Keeners y de corner wave!!! Probablemente el mejor sitio para vivir en todo el Ottawa Valley.

I love the feeling of advancing to another adventure, but this time I was pissed, with no money and any place to live I was tired of everything! But you know when you go so deep that you touch the bottom you can only go up! Paddling in the river we met a guy who let us camp in his cottage!! Thanks a lot David!

Desde entonces los días pasan muy deprisa y sin darme cuenta ya me queda poco más de un mes en Canada. Las cosas van mejor que nunca, tengo trabajo, comida y el dinero suficiente para sobrevivir! El nivel del río a bajado y por fin se han aparecido las tan prometidas olas (garburator, corner wave, baby face , push button... el Ottawa river es una pasada para el freestyle).

Since then life is great, days pass so fast and without even notice I'm on my last moth In Canada. Things are going sweet , I got some work, food and enough money to survive, the level has dropped enough so we have all this sick waves (garburator, corner wave, baby face, push button... the ottawa river is sick for freestyle!).

Esta siendo un verano increíble, sin horarios, ni jefes, mis únicas preocupaciones son que me salgan los trucos, que los animales no me roben la comida, que las olas sigan funcionando... lo se... living the dream!

I'm having a great summer, with no , no boss, my only worries are getting the tricks, not getting robbed by the racoons, the waves keep working... I know... living the dream!

Laruns BIG AIR!

Vendredi denier nous avons été contacté pour faire une grosse démo de big-air à Laruns ... Entre l'église et la fontaine... Très bizarre comme site de pratique pour des Kayakistes. Enfin bref voici les caractéristiques du jouet:
une rampe de plus de 13 m, une spatule à 35° et un coussin bien épais en réception. Max comme à son habitude à envoyé grave, jusqu'à se casser le nez ...

Du temps libre en juillet

Salut salut,
